The url is too long – what do you think??
I received this comment from Thierry, and thought that it was worth discussing here!
If you don’t mind me doing it, there’s something I’d like to suggest to you in terms of pure marketing. The name of the web site and your company "spiritus-thespiritualmarketingdirectory" is really long and most people, including me, will only remember "Spiritus", however when searching the web for "Spiritus" there are other companies using this brand name and they appear in the first positions in search engine results.
My question is: Do you plan to keep this name on the long term? and if so, could you maybe come up with something shorter for the URL address? These are just a few thoughts that I wanted to share with you.
Thierry -you are right -the url is VERY long! And very easy to mis-type.
This is how it came about.
I became interested in the concept of "Marketing from Spirit" and "Spiritual Marketing" some time ago, and wanted to create a place where businesses could openly promote themselves in a way that would attract customers who shared their values.
The first name I chose was "The Spiritual Marketing Directory". However, my son, a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, pointed out that I should also have a Brand name, to distinguish myself should any other similar Directories be created.
So, in time, the name Spiritus was born.
And, as you say Thierry, there are other businesses using the name Spiritus, (though none in this area, so I am in the process of Trade Marking Spiritus as the name of a Business Directory) so I had to consider the domain name to use.
The one we have now is, indeed, long. But it does say exactly what Spiritus is, and it does help in SEO for our key words.
And my thought is that very few people actually ever type in a url more than once -they either click on a link to the site, or their browser "suggests" the complete url after they type a few letters.
But I would very much like to know what others think, so do please tell me!
